Columbia River
Permaculture
Experiment
-Haven for Kayakers-
WELCOME TO THE COLUMBIA RIVER
The vision for this 4-acre wooded beachfront land is to be a co-created camping spot; a permaculture haven for Kayakers traveling down-river. It will be free to use, and free to add features to. We hope to add wild and self-sustaining permaculture gardens, fruit and nut trees, shrubs, and a camping shelter and/or treehouse. The land is open to those passing down-river, or campers wishing to make the hike 1 mile downriver. The culture is one of pass-it-forward, with visitors encouraged not to pay, but rather to leave a gift of their own -- whatever that means -- for the next traveller stopping off (be that a sculpture, a structure, a plant, a pan, a bag of rice, or a drawing).
The property does have an incomplete foot path from Vista Park, but is most conveniently accessed by water. This invitation to creativity means anyone wishing to plant or build will need to haul in materials, or use the trees and wood on-site; the sheltered nature of the parcel also keeps the space preserved from outside traffic.
We need co-designers! Please reach out if you're interested in visiting, and offering something (land clearing, building a shelter, planting, landscaping, or making art).
